What is Occipital Fibre Analysis?
Occipital Fibre Analysis is an assessment technique used within Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) to evaluate tension patterns at the base of the skull (occiput). The occipital region plays a key role in nervous system function, as it surrounds the brainstem and influences communication between the brain and body.
During the assessment, gentle contact is made with specific fibres and connective tissues at the back of the head to detect areas of tension or imbalance. Changes in tone or sensitivity can provide insight into how the body is adapting to stress—structural, emotional, or neurological.
Because the nervous system is closely connected to this area, subtle imbalances may influence posture, jaw tension, headaches, or overall body coordination.
Occipital Fibre Analysis is non-invasive and forms part of a comprehensive evaluation, helping guide precise, low-force corrections that support whole-body balance and nervous system regulation.”
